I apologize to all my readers for the recent inactivity on this blog.
The past three days I have attended Salt Lake City’s comic con: FanX. It was amazing!
What I did for most of the time there was meet actors and go to the actors’ panels. Actors from all sorts of different geek-type shows and movies were there. I got to meet a few of them and I was super surprised at how nice they were!
I’ll start with Rob Paulsen.
Rob has done TONS AND TONS of stuff! He was (this is only a scratch on the surface):
Yakko and Pinky-Anamaniacs, Donatello-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (animated), Carl-Jimmy Neutron, Major Glory-Dexter’s Laboratory, Malsquando-Dave the Barbarian, and TONS MORE! (Check him out on IMDB.com).
He was super super nice! He recognized us when we came back to get a picture of him (which we did because he was nice) and he complimented us a ton.
Next is Jess Harnell.
Wakko-Animaniacs, Ironhide-Transformers, Don-Wreck It Ralph, and many more!
He was way super nice and energetic! He saw us a second time and immediately recognized us. At first I thought he was waving to someone behind me, but when I actually got up to talk to him, he teased me for being snotty to him. It was like he was an old buddy. It was awesome! I loved it!
Others we met were: Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Taz-Looney Tunes show, Hondo-Star Wars the Clone Wars [show], Thanos-Super Hero Squad, and others),
Brandon Routh (Superman, Atom-Arrow TV show, and others),
Ralph Macchio (Karate Kid, Johnny-Outsiders, a few characters on Psych, and others),
Anthony Michael Hall (Jerky chief on Psych, Geek on sixteen candles, Brian-Breakfast Club and others [plus he is a SUPER SUPER nice guy who gave us a free signed poster because that’s how he roles!]),
and Ray Park (Darth Maul-Star Wars, Toad-X men, Snake Eyes-G.I. Joe, Edgar-Heroes, etc. [who was hilarious and considerate and also super nice! I love that guy!]).
There were three panels we went to.
Two were two parts to the same thing. The three voice actors; Rob, Jess, and Jim, did a script reading. It was the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone script. What they did was, they were assigned a certain character voice for a certain character. It was hilarious! At one point, Voldemort was Winnie the Pooh, and McGonagall was Ironhide! SO FUNNY! The reason it was two parts was because so many people weren’t able to get into the first one, so they did the rest the next day.
The other panel was Ray Park’s.
It was so awesome! He was funny and made an effort to try and know people. When he was asked a question, he made sure to know the person’s name. At the end, he had a bunch of kids come up and he taught them a little Darth Maul move! It was amazing! His accent, I might add, was also amazing!
(I bet you could find videos of these panels online if you looked for them! Do! They’re hilarious! [They’ll probably turn up eventually.]).
If you ever get a chance to go to a convention like this, DO IT! It is so much fun and you get to meet so many cool and nice people! You will not regret it! I especially love how the actors were not afraid to talk like all the different characters they have done. These conventions seem to get better and better and I look forward to the next convention in September!
